Hyundai Hope on Wheels

Committed to Fighting Pediatric Cancer

For more than ten years, Hyundai and its dealers have been committed to fighting pediatric cancer. What began in 1998 as a local initiative supported by New England-area Hyundai dealers to raise funds for the Jimmy Fund at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has grown into a nationwide program supported by all of Hyundai's 780 dealers.

Since its inception in 2004, Hyundai Hope on Wheels, which became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2008, has donated more than $12 million to institutions nationwide to help kids fight cancer. The Hope on Wheels Medical Advisory Board is made up of leaders in cancer research treatment, including Dr. Leonard Sender, Dr. David Poplack and Dr. Dan Wechsler, and has provided essential guidance in the development of the Hope on Wheels program.

This year, the Hope on Wheels Tour will travel to children's hospitals across the country and donate $1.3 million to support further training and study for doctors involved in pediatric cancer research. Hope on Wheels has designated these medical professionals as Hope on Wheels Scholars. Click here to read about the research being performed by the 2008 Hyundai Scholars.

The 2009 Hope on Wheels Tour will hold ceremonial donation events at pediatric cancer research institutions across the country from April through September. Each event will celebrate children's lives and treatment milestones by capturing their colorful handprints on a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe.

For the second year, Ms. Sammy Heim, the Hope on Wheels National Youth Ambassador will appear at events across the country to share her story. Sammy is joined by six Regional Youth Ambassadors who will support the efforts of the 2009 Hope on Wheels Tour by raising awareness for the need to fund pediatric cancer research. Hyundai's 780 dealers are committed to providing great products and services and contributing to the communities in which they live and work. Hope on Wheels unites Hyundai dealers in the mission to find a cure for pediatric cancer, and they ask you to join the fight. You can join Hyundai and its dealers and support the search for a cure by making a donation to Hope in Wheels, click here to donate online today.
